Dr Coulibaly has extensive experience in the field of entomology for malaria research/control. For more than 20 years, he has been working in several aspects of malaria vector research including the development/testing of vector control tools and strategies such as indoors residual spraying, indoor wall lining and larviciding. He conducts operational studies and monitors deployed vector control strategies to provide scientific evidence to decision-makers in Mali.
Dr Coulibaly is also undertaking research on innovative approaches to malaria control. The development of transmission-blocking vaccines is one of these innovative approaches. Having a genetic background, he is currently focused on the use of technologies based on genetically modified mosquitoes including gene drive for malaria vector control.
