Mahamadou Diakite is a Professor of Immunology and Genomics at the USTTB. He obtained his PharmD degree from the National School of Medicine and Pharmacy, and received his Master’s degree from WHO-IRTC in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2006. He also obtained a DPhil degree from Oxford University, UK. 

Currently, Prof. Diakite is the Vice-rector of USTTB and the Deputy Scientific Director of the University Clinical Research Center (UCRC) at Mali International Center for Excellence in Research (Mali-ICER). 

He has been working on research on infectious diseases since 1991. His research group (research staff and students) focuses on various aspects of infectious diseases such as malaria and emerging infectious diseases. Also, his group is working on the innate and acquired resistance to malaria in Mali. Longitudinal and epidemiologic analysis of children and the adult’s immune responses to malaria in Malian villages with different transmission patterns. He has an interest in P. falciparum genetic diversity, genetic susceptibility to infectious diseases, and Pharmacogenomics.

Moreover, his team provides various services to research laboratories such as:
 Clinical trial operations, administrative management, immunology laboratory services, a repository with staff trained in multiple laboratory techniques, pharmacy, data collection and management, regulatory affairs support, and so much more. 

Since 2013, Prof. Diakite serves as the permanent Secretary of the University Ethical Committee. He has been a member of the Malian National Ethical Committee of Life and Health Sciences since 2009.
