Nafomon Sogoba, MSc., Ph.D., is the Director of the Medical Entomology Research group of the International Center of excellence in Research (ICER) of the Medical School and Dentistry of the University of Sciences, Technique and Technology of Bamako (USTTB).

Dr. Nafomon Sogoba graduated from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Bamako in 1987, received a master’s degree in Entomology-Parasitology from the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques (FAST) of the University of Bamako in 2004 and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Basel, Switzerland in 2007. He has been the Head of the GIS/Epidemiology Unit and the Acarology/Virology Laboratory for more than 10 years. Dr. Sogoba is a Senior Scientist in the Entomology program and has lot of field experience and expertise in emerging infectious diseases pathogen investigation and is leading the Wolbachia research project in collaboration with the team of Dr. Carolina Barillas-Mury of LMVR/NIH and the acarology and virology program in collaboration with the team of Dr. Heinz Feldmann of the NIH Rocky Mountain Laboratory. He is also the leader of the ICEMR-Mali project and the recipient of a WHO/TDR Grant on a multisectoral intervention for controlling malaria vectors, mitigating insecticides resistance, and assessing WaSH facilities at health care units in selected costal and Sahelian West African countries.
