  1. ICER Mali Research Support Office

    The Mali Research Support Office was created in 2005 to ensure an effective management of the ICER Mali research programs and to ensure the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is represented in Mali. The creation of this office in Mali aimed at developing a structure that would unify the scientific and administrative functions within the same office. This office is headed by a Director who serves as the official representative of NIH. The Director acts as a liaison between the US Government, the Malian Government, the NGOs, the Mali Service Center, the Intramural programs and the NIH Extra-Mural funds.

    Successive directors of NIH/NIAID Mali are:

    – Dr. Ydrissa Sow from 2005 to 2012. He also worked with NIAID HIV/TB program Mali,

    – Dr. Mame Khouredia Niang, from 2012 to 2014

    – Ms. Fatoumata Bathily, from 2015 to present.

    In addition to the Director and her Administrative Assistant, the NIH/NIAID Mali office currently includes other departments, namely:

    General Services Office:

    Managed by Mr. Souleymane Karambe, Principal Supervisor and his assistants, this office is in charge of the running of all the clinical sites, the implementation of all maintenance and repair work of the ICER Mali electrical equipment: generators, air conditioners, water towers and other equipment. This office manages logistical matters, procurement of research-related consumables and equipment collects budget receipts, and follows up on shipments. It also supervises the operation of the liquid nitrogen plant and the gardeners.

    Security Office:

    Headed by Mr. Bakary Adama Coulibaly in collaboration with his assistants, this office provides orientation and training for the staff and visitors, security for the ICER Mali laboratories and offices on the campus of the University of Sciences, Techniques and Technology (USTTB), for the permanent and semi-permanent clinical sites, as well as for employees working at more remote sites. It manages the video surveillance security system, the badging system and the GPS monitoring system. The security office is the main point of contact for all matters related to the security for the staff and facilities of ICER Mali.

    Motor Pool

    Mr. Boukadary Sékou Katilé is the vehicle fleet Coordinator. This office ensures the monthly allocation of vehicles to the clinical sites and the planning of all maintenance and repair work on a fleet of vehicles. It ensures the proper use of tools and equipment in the ICER Mali garage.

    Inventory and Stock Management:

    Mr. Mamadou Traoré is in charge of the Inventory and Stock management. This office is responsible for overseeing the stores and regular inventory of equipment, supplies and consumables received at ICER Mali. It provides general logistical support to the administrative and executive sections of the office. It acts as a liaison between ICER Mali and the NIH/NIAID Property Office for all matters related to ICER Mali property. It works with all the ICER Mali laboratories to ensure that all equipment is accounted for and recorded. It also coordinates with the Information Technology office to ensure that proper labeling and registration procedures are followed for all computer equipment.
