Director of Mali Service Center

Salif Camara is a Financial Specialist with over 30 years of experience in planning and supervising the implementation of efficient and effective financial systems. He received both his Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Master of Science in Applied Economics degrees from the University of Santa Clara, California, USA. He worked for USAID /Mali as a Chief Accountant where his duties included the supervision of the budget and the accounting branch as well as the follow-up on loan repayments. He worked as an Internal Auditor at West Africa Rice Development Association (WARDA/ADRAO), in Liberia and Cote D’Ivoire. As Team Leader for Benin’s Clef II (the reform of Education of Benin), Mr. Camara provided technical advice to USAID and the Ministry of Education of Benin on specific financial management issues affecting Clef. He also worked as a Financial Management Expert for The Mitchell Group on the USAID-funded Rwanda Raising Rural Incomes and Improving Livelihoods Project. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing and installing financial management and accounting procedures for grant funds and developing a manual for monitoring and tracking grant funds to ensure compliance with USAID’s procedures. He has been working since January 2005 with the Mali Service Center (MSC) in various capacities to provide efficient administrative and financial services to support the research activities financed by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and other institutions. He was appointed as Director of MSC in 2012. In this capacity, he leads MSC operations to ensure efficiency, quality service and cost-effective management of resources, as the organization continues to grow as a key development management organization in West Africa and beyond.
